The 2009 Listowel Food Fair took place from the 5th the 8th of November 2009. This year's launch night celebrity chef was the very popular Kevin Dundon of Dunbrody House in Wexford. Kevin is know to all from his appearances on the Afternoon Show, Gorilla Gourmet and Heat programmes on RTE. Kevin gave a cookery demonstration on Friday night at the Listowel Arms hotel following the awards ceremony. Also Kevin was host of a special coffee morning on Saturday morning where he chatted about food and sign copies of his latest book 'Great Family Food'.

Other events at this year's festival included the Kerry Just Ask Restaurant Competition. This competition was open to all restaurants in Kerry and the winner was 'The Chart House' in Dingle. Just Ask! is a public awareness campaign that aims to encourage consumers when eating out to look for information on where the food (particularly meat) on their plate comes from and to encourage chefs to provide this information on their menus. This year's programme included Childrens workshops, Organic Farming classes, Cake decorating workshops, Farming Seminars and much much more.

This year's National Farmhouse Cheese Awards were the 7th year of the ever popular event and details of our prize winners are available on the cheese competition page.

2008 saw the launch of the Irish Food Book of the Year award and the winning book was 'Cornucopia at Home'. This year's winners was Georgina Campbell for her book 'From Tide to Table'.

Our Annual Food & Craft Fair which was held on Sunday November 8th in the Listowel Arms Hotel had a wide range of products on display.
